Is there an association between diabetes and neck pain and lower back pain? Results of a population-based study
Journal of Pain Research Jun 07, 2018
Jimenez-Garcia R, et al. - The association between low back pain (LBP), neck pain (NP), and diabetes was studied while controlling for many sociodemographic characteristics, comorbidities, and lifestyle variables. The variables having an independent association with LBP and NP among diabetes sufferers were also investigated. People with diabetes displayed a high prevalence and intensity of NP and LBP, affecting them significantly more than their age- and sex-matched non-diabetic controls. To reduce the incidence, severity, and negative effect of NP and LBP on the quality, they recommend implementing specific preventive and educational strategies among diabetic patients.
