Dratva J, et al. - Researchers investigated the presence of a gender-specific association between physician-diagnosed asthma status and carotid artery intima-media thickness (CIMT) in adolescents. As compared to girls, the interaction with gender was noted to be highly prominent in displaying significantly increased CIMT in asthmatic vs non-asthmatics boys. Therefore, an increased risk for early vascular change was discovered among adolescent asthmatic boys.
