Is single-child family associated with cardio-metabolic risk factors: The CASPIAN-V study
BMC Cardiovascular Disorders Jun 14, 2018
Kelishadi R, et al. - Researchers, using a national representative sample of Iranian children and adolescents, evaluated the correlation between cardio-metabolic risk factors and the status of single-child family in this cross-sectional study which was the fifth round of Childhood and Adolescence Surveillance and PreventIon of Adult Non- communicable disease surveys. An increased risk of abdominal obesity, high systolic blood pressure, high blood pressure and generalized obesity in single child students was reported in the univariate logistic regression model. A statistically significant association of single child family with only abdominal obesity was revealed in multiple logistic regression model. Overall, the link between cardio-metabolic risk factors and single-child family was corroborated in this study.
