Verburg IWM, et al. – This study was designed to report the link between ICU characteristics and ICU LoS, after correcting for patient characteristics. Furthermore, researchers compared the predictive performances of models including either patient and ICU characteristics or only patient characteristics. After correcting for patient characteristics, it was found that ICU LoS was associated with six ICU characteristics, mainly describing staff availability. Furthermore, it was concluded that including ICU characteristics did not significantly improve ICU LoS prediction.
