Is maternal magnesium sulfate administration prior to delivery an independent predictor of survival in neonates who weigh fewer than five hundred grams?

American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology Jan 19, 2018

Aziz MM, et al. - The authors aim to determine the predictive efficacy of magnesium sulfate for survival in neonates whose birth weight is fewer than 500g. As per findings, survival from 12 hours after birth until discharge among these neonates could be predicted with maternal magnesium independently. In these periviable birth weights, this is the first study that has found a survival benefit.
