Is increased peripheral ligamentous laxity in term pregnant women associated with obstetric anal sphincter injury?

Gachon B, et al. - The association among increased ligamentous laxity, perineal tear severity, and obstetric anal sphincter injury (OASI) occurrence was assessed. In this study, increased ligamentous laxity appeared to be associated with OASI occurrence. Findings thus suggested a lower risk of injury for the stiffest tissues.
