Is estimated cardiorespiratory fitness an effective predictor for cardiovascular and all-cause mortality?: A meta-analysis
Atherosclerosis Jun 28, 2021
Qiu S, Cai X, Sun Z, et al. - The purpose of this meta-analysis was to quantify the association of estimated cardiorespiratory fitness (eCRF) with risk of cardiovascular and all-cause mortality. The researchers identified relevant prospective cohort studies by exploring electronic databases. This analysis involved 25 datasets from 8 cohort studies that enrolled more than 170,000 participants. Findings showed an independent association of higher eCRF with a lower risk of cardiovascular and all-cause mortality in the general population, suggesting the possible potential of eCRF as an effective and practical risk prediction instrument in epidemiological or population research.
