Is Helicobacter pylori associated with Behçet's syndrome? A meta-analysis
Helicobacter Nov 15, 2019
Yu Y, et al. - This is the first meta-analysis investigating the connection between Helicobacter pylori (H pylori) infection and Behçet's syndrome (BS), also known as Behçet's disease. The authors searched and reviewed articles published until July 1, 2019, in the PubMed, MEDLINE, and Embase databases with restriction of English-language studies. Finally, six articles have been included. The authors discovered that BS people were 1.39 times more susceptible to H pylori infection. They also observed that oral ulceration, genital ulceration, and cutaneous lesions were alleviated after H pylori eradication. Findings suggested that H pylori can be an etiological factor to BS. No statistical heterogeneity was observed in the publication bias and sensitivity analysis.
