Is dental trauma more prevalent in maltreated children? A comparative study in Southern Brazil

da Silva-Junior IF, et al. - In this cross-sectional study, the authors examined 68 maltreated kids and 204 age, sex-, and school-matched control candidates in Pelotas, a Southern Brazilian city to assess the prevalence of dental trauma in maltreated candidates as compared to children with no history of maltreatment. About 23.53% of maltreated children and 14.22% in the comparison group were observed with a prevalence of dental trauma. After adjustment, the occurrence of dental trauma presented a correlation with child maltreatment.
