Boyer B, et al. - This study sought to determine whether Cross Linked Poly Ethylene (XLPE) was an improvement over conventional Ultra High Molecular Weight Poly Ethylene in total knee replacement. Findings suggested only a low effect, if any, of increasing the cross-linking on knee arthroplasty survival. There could be differences between brands; the manufacturing process could play a role in the results.
