Is bone grafting always necessary in revision reverse total shoulder arthroplasty with uncontained glenoid bone defects
Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery Dec 04, 2020
Verstuyft L, Vergison L, Van Tongel A, et al. - This study was undertaken to evaluate whether central peg positioning in the spine pillar (CPPSP) is a more feasible alternative to the use of bone grafts. Researchers enrolled a total of 60 revisions to a reverse total shoulder arthroplasty with uncontained glenoid bone defects. They evaluated clinical outcomes using the Constant score and assessed the complication ratio. This study’s findings demonstrate that in comparison with the use of bone grafts, individuals with uncontained glenoid bone defects undergoing a revision to an RTSP obtain similar clinical results with the CPPSP technique. The outcomes reveal that the CPPSP method is a valid alternative but has different complications.
