Zhu HD, et al. - Experts undertook this trial to comparatively scrutinize the efficacy of an irradiation stent vs an uncovered self-expandable metallic stent (SEMS) in patients with unresectable malignant biliary obstruction (MBO). Data uncovered that irradiation stents were prominently related to a decrease in the rate of stent restenosis. Hence, when compared to an uncovered SEMS, better patency and longer survival could be achieved by insertion of an irradiation stent in the study cohort.
