van der Sluijs BM, et al. - The authors performed this patient-control study to examine the involvement of limb girdle muscles with a multidimensional approach in early oculopharyngeal muscular dystrophy (OPMD). They demonstrated that involvement of pelvic girdle and proximal leg could be a relatively early feature of OPMD, leading to impaired daily life activities. In OPMD patients, the fat fraction of the hip adductors and hamstrings was significantly higher than in controls.
