Investigation of the prognostic role of neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio in idiopathic sudden sensorineural hearing loss based on propensity score matching: A retrospective observational study
European Archives of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology Mar 19, 2020
Wu S, et al. - Researchers intended to determine if there is a possible association between the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and the prognosis of idiopathic sudden sensorineural hearing loss (ISSNHL) based on PSM. Using the SPSS statistical program (SPSS 19.0), data and statistical analyses were performed. Data reported that the number of patients in the effective group with the NLR < 3.42 and NLR < 3.42 were significantly different. According to this retrospective observational study, the NLR is a cost-effective and accurate index for ISSNHL predictions. They believe that NLR can be a reliable factor for clinical physicians to predict the prognosis in ISSNHL. In order to further prove that NLR is a powerful prognostic factor in ISSNHL, larger prospective studies are needed in the future.
