Investigating the effects of laryngotracheal stenosis on upper airway aerodynamics
The Laryngoscope Oct 20, 2017
Cheng T, et al. - The consequence of laryngotracheal stenosis (LTS) on airway resistance and volumetric flow was explored in this trial, across three different inspiratory pressures. LTS illustrated a rise in the resistance and decreased the airflow. A substantial improvement was noted via mouth breathing in the airflow and resistance. However, it could not completely compensate for the effects of stenosis. The location of stenosis possibly modulated the effect of the stenosis on resistance differentially.
