Inverted papilloma is associated with greater radiographic inflammatory disease than other sinonasal malignancy
International Forum of Allergy & Rhinology Feb 10, 2020
Papagiannopoulos P, Tong CL, Kuan EC, et al. - In this retrospective chart review, researchers explored the connection between sinonasal inflammation found in inverted papilloma (IP), a benign sinonasal tumor with a high potential for recurrence after surgical intervention, and contrasted this to the level of inflammation observed in other sinonasal tumors. Participants in the study were 71 patients. When compared with control, unilateral IPs were linked to a higher level of contralateral sinonasal inflammation. This indicates that inflammation that is independent of tumor obstruction may be associated with IP.
