Inverse association between statin use and head and neck cancer: A population-based case-control study in Han population
Head & Neck Mar 02, 2019
Kao LT, et al. - In this case-control study, researchers investigated the relationship between previous statin use and head and neck cancer occurrence using the Taiwan Longitudinal Health Insurance Database. Analyzing a total of 11,030 sampled patients (5,515 patients with head and neck cancer as cases and 5,515 propensity score-matched patients without head and neck cancer as controls), they identified reports of previous prescriptions for statins in 16.95% (15.99% of cases and 17.91% of controls). Outcomes suggest that statin usage is inversely correlated with head and neck cancer occurrence.
