Intravoxel incoherent motion (IVIM) for response assessment in patients with osteosarcoma undergoing neoadjuvant chemotherapy
European Journal of Radiology Sep 30, 2019
Kayal EB, et al. - Forty individuals (N = 40; male: female = 30:10) with histologically verified osteosarcoma treated with 3-cycles of neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) were prospectively investigated to examine the role of quantitative Intravoxel incoherent motion (IVIM) parameters and their histogram analysis in identifying variations in osteosarcoma getting NACT and assessing therapeutic response. All participants underwent diffusion-weighted imaging with 11 b-values using 1.5 T MRI scanner at before treatment, following 1-cycle and following 3-cycles of NACT. Quantitative IVIM parameters, particularly D* & f and their histogram analysis were found to be informational and could be used as noninvasive surrogate markers for early response evaluation during the course of NACT in osteosarcoma.
