Intravitreal dexamethasone implant for central retinal vein occlusion without macular edema
BMC Ophthalmology Apr 24, 2019
Choi EY, et al. - Twenty eyes of 20 candidates were examined to evaluate the effectiveness of an intravitreal dexamethasone (IVD) implant (Ozurdex ®) for the treatment of central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO) without macular edema (ME) in this retrospective cohort study. From baseline to 12 months after injection, the decreases in venous tortuosity and width were significantly greater in the treated group vs the observed group. Significantly greater improvements in retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) swelling and retinal hemorrhage were also noted in the treated group. In the treated group, they found significantly faster visual symptom improvement. Complete resolution of cilioretinal artery occlusion correlated with the CRVO in two cases following IVD injection, leading to complete visual recovery in 1 week.
