Intravenous theophylline is the most effective intervention to prolong EEG seizure duration in patients undergoing electroconvulsive therapy

Tzabazis A, et al. – This study explored the effect on seizure duration of anesthetic management and of selected drugs (theophylline, remifentanil, S–ketamine) in patients undergoing electroconvulsive therapy (ECT). Findings suggested that theophylline can be a useful adjunct for patients with inadequate seizure duration.
