Intravenous immunoglobulin as adjunct therapy for refractory pyoderma gangrenosum: Systematic review of cases and case series
British Journal of Dermatology Feb 23, 2018
Song H, et al. - In this study, experts assessed the effects of immunoglobulin (a protein extracted from blood plasma containing antibodies) given by intravenous injection (IVIG) for the treatment of refractory pyoderma gangrenosum. Complete response to the treatment with IVIG in addition to steroids was noted in half of the patients, with a significant number of the remainder responding in part to this therapy. Overall, intravenous immunoglobulin is a potentially useful therapy for patients who have not responded to other medications used to treat this condition.
