Grape S, et al. - The prophylactic anti-emetic efficacy of intravenous (i.v.) dexamethasone in patients receiving long-acting neuraxial opioids was assessed in this meta-analysis. Researchers could obtain sufficient evidence to state that the use of intravenous dexamethasone as a prophylactic anti-emetic affords effective prevention of postoperative nausea and vomiting during the first 24 postoperative hours in patients receiving long-acting neuraxial opioids.
