Intravenous acetaminophen does not decrease persistent surgical pain after cardiac surgery

Turan A, et al. - A prospective, randomized, double-blind trial was conducted to test a hypothesis that perioperative acetaminophen reduces incisional pain at 30 and 90 days. Findings demonstrated that at 30 days and 90 days postoperatively, no reduction in the incidence or intensity of incisional pain was observed in cardiac surgery patients who received intravenous (IV) acetaminophen during the perioperative period.
