Intraosseous basivertebral nerve ablation for the treatment of chronic low back pain: A prospective randomized double-blind sham-controlled multi-center study
European Spine Journal Feb 14, 2018
Fischgrund JS, et al. - In a Food and Drug Administration approved Investigational Device Exemption trial, the effectiveness of radiofrequency (RF) ablation of the basivertebral nerve (BVN) was comprehensively investigated in the treatment of chronic low back pain (CLBP). A substantially greater improvement was exhibited in ODI at 3 months along with a higher responder rate than sham-treated controls, in the patients treated with RF ablation of the BVN for CLBP. It was deduced that BVN ablation served as a potential minimally invasive therapy for the relief of chronic low back pain.
