Intraoperative rupture of the ovarian capsule in early-stage ovarian cancer: A meta-analysis
Obstetrics and Gynecology Jul 29, 2021
Dioun S, Wu J, Chen L, et al. - By analyzing relevant high-quality studies, researchers assessed the impacts of intraoperative ovarian capsule rupture on progression-free survival as well as on overall survival in females who are receiving surgery for early-stage ovarian cancer. They explored MEDLINE using PubMed, EMBASE (Elsevier), ClinicalTrials.gov, and Scopus (Elsevier). A meta-analysis was conducted with 17 eligible studies. Findings in high-quality observational studies revealed that decrease in progression-free survival and overall survival was brought about by intraoperative ovarian capsule rupture in women with early-stage ovarian cancer who were undergoing initial surgical management.
