Intraoperative psoas compartment block vs preoperative fascia iliaca block for pain control after direct anterior total hip arthroplasty: A randomized, controlled trial
Journal of Arthroplasty Jan 19, 2018
Perry CR, et al. - This study entailed comparison between preoperative fascia iliaca block and intraoperative psoas compartment block in terms of efficacy for pain control following direct anterior approach total hip arthroplasty. Both methods afforded similar satisfaction with respect to postoperative pain relief. Researchers identified that intraoperative psoas compartment block represented an effective and efficient regional anesthesia technique while performing direct anterior approach total hip arthroplasty and may be used to obtain satisfactory postoperative pain control and patient satisfaction while decreasing hospital resources.
