Intraoperative imaging during minimally invasive transoral robotic surgery using near-infrared light

Scott-Wittenborn N, et al. – The usefulness of FIREFLY imaging system was explored in transoral robotic surgery (TORS) for oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC). Investigations revealed that the FIREFLY system with indocyanine green fluorescence was not capable of identifying tumor boundaries, unknown primary head and neck cancers, or vascular structures in the oropharynx.
