Intraoperative conversion from partial to radical nephrectomy: Incidence, predictive factors, and outcomes
Urology Mar 28, 2018
Petros FG, et al. - The pre- and intra-operative predictors of conversion to radical nephrectomy (RN) were assessed in patients who underwent a planned partial nephrectomy (PN) for renal cell carcinoma (RCC). In patients who planned to undergo PN, the rate of conversion to RN was low. Intra-operative conversion from scheduled PN to RN was associated with larger tumor size with increasing complexity, hilar tumor location, and/or renal sinus invasion, locally advanced tumors, laparoscopic PN, but robotic PN, bleeding complication, and positive surgical margin were not associated.
