Intraocular pressure after phacoemulsification in open-angle glaucoma patients with uncontrolled or marginally controlled glaucoma and/or with severe visual field loss
Journal of Glaucoma Feb 08, 2018
Bojikian KD, et al. - Researchers attempted to investigate the intraocular pressure (IOP) after phacoemulsification in open-angle glaucoma (OAG) patients with uncontrolled or marginally controlled glaucoma and/or severe visual field (VF) loss. It was determined that phacoemulsification led to nonsignificant 1-year IOP change in such individuals. Only 6.7% patients required trabeculectomy, despite 40% of eyes presenting with higher IOP after phacoemulsification at 1-year postoperatively.
