Intramuscular glucocorticoid injection vs placebo injection in hip osteoarthritis: A 12-week blinded randomised controlled trial
Annals of Rheumatic Diseases Mar 16, 2018
Dorleijn DMJ, et al. - The effectiveness of an intramuscular glucocorticoid injection in hip pain reduction was compared with that of a placebo injection in patients with hip osteoarthritis. Results demonstrated the effectiveness of an intramuscular glucocorticoid injection in providing a significant and clinically relevant hip pain reduction at rest at 2-week postinjection. All primary outcomes [severity of hip pain at rest, during walking (0–10) and WOMAC pain] showed effectiveness from 4 to 6 week, up to a 12-week follow-up.
