Intralesional cidofovir for treatment of acyclovir-resistant laryngeal herpes manifesting as supraglottic mass
Annals of Otology, Rhinology & Laryngology Feb 01, 2019
Yang CQ, et al. - Researchers assessed an individual case of laryngopharyngeal herpes simplex virus infection (bulky, obstructive supraglottic and glottic laryngitis) to recognize the potential treatment in cases refractory to antiviral medications. They observed dysphonia, dysphagia, and airway complaints resistant to acyclovir analogs in the case. They suggested laryngopharyngeal herpes, a medically treated disease ranging from small mucosal lesions to fungating obstructive masses copying the neoplasm. The case was given intralesional cidofovir injection which led to improvement in symptoms.
