Intradialytic hypotension and cardiac arrhythmias in patients undergoing maintenance hemodialysis: Results from the Monitoring in Dialysis Study
Clinical Journal of the American Society of Nephrology May 13, 2020
Mc Causland FR, Tumlin JA, Roy-Chaudhury P, et al. - Researchers examined the link between intradialytic hypotension (IDH), a common complication of hemodialysis (HD), and clinically significant arrhythmia among patients on maintenance HD. For this purpose, data were used from the Monitoring in Dialysis study, which employed implantable loop recorders to identify and continuously monitor electrocardiographic data from 66 patients receiving maintenance HD, from the United States and India, over a 6-month span (n = 4,720 sessions). Findings revealed a common occurrence of IDH among patients on maintenance HD, as well as its link with a greater risk of developing intradialytic clinically significant arrhythmia in this patient population.
