Zavala GA, et al. - In school-aged children with high rates of obesity, researchers evaluated associations between intestinal parasitic infection with intestinal and systemic inflammatory markers. Observations revealed no association of intestinal parasitic infection with systemic inflammation, however, it was associated with intestinal inflammation. Having multiple-infections were found to be correlated with higher leptin concentrations.
