Interstitial lung abnormalities and the clinical course in patients with COPD
Chest Sep 15, 2020
Lee TS, Jin KN, Lee HW, et al. - Researchers undertook this retrospective analysis to analyze the clinical course according to interstitial lung abnormalities (ILAs) in patients suffering from COPD. Participants were COPD patients who had chest CT imaging and longitudinal pulmonary function tests done. Patients with ILAs vs those without ILAs were identified to be significantly older and exhibited lower FEV1 and FVC. Findings demonstrated a significant link of ILAs with moderate to severe acute exacerbation in patients suffering from COPD. An accelerated decline in lung function was observed in relation to progression of ILAs.
