International uptake of a proven intervention to reduce death and dependency in acute stroke: A cross-sectional survey following the QASC trial
Worldviews on Evidence-Based Nursing Sep 04, 2017
Middleton S, et al. – Aim of this work was to distinguish the clinical discipline of healthcare professionals who downloaded the quality in acute stroke care resources, the purpose for downloading, successful implementation of any or all the fever, sugar, and swallow (FeSS) protocols, barriers to implementation; and correlations with self–reported successful implementation. The QASC intervention required use of all three protocols. Nevertheless, less than half downloaded them all and implementation was not guided by the proven implementation strategy. Although encouraging that these resources were being applied to drive practice change, piecemeal implementation of a proven intervention is unlikely to improve patient outcomes.
