Interleukin 17 receptor A haplotype analysis in chronic spontaneous urticaria: A preliminary study
Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology Oct 16, 2020
Nada H, Hassan R, El‐Hamed Ibrahim RA, et al. - Among 70 chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU) patients and 30 healthy controls, researchers sought to explore the correlation of single nucleotide polymorphisms (rs4819554 and rs879577) of IL-17RA gene with CSU susceptibility and severity. An autologous serum skin test and urticaria activity score measured the severity of the disease. Using real‐time polymerase chain reaction technology, allelic discrimination analysis for rs4819554 and rs879577 was performed. Carriers of rs4819554*G were more prone to develop CSU than its counterpart, whereas rs4819554*A allele showed more severe phenotype in the form of more prolonged disease duration, concurrent angioedema, higher level of treatment, and higher score of quality of life. Homozygote patients with rs879577*CC were also associated with angioedema. Findings suggested that IL17RA gene polymorphisms may lead to the increased susceptibility to CSU.
