American Journal of Epidemiology Nov 03, 2017
Lahti-Pulkkinen M, et al. - The clinicians investigated the intergenerational correlations of birth weight, birth weight adjusted for gestational age and sex, and small- and large for gestational age births among grandmother-mother-grandchild triads across 3 generations using the Aberdeen Maternity and Neonatal Databank. Across 3 generations, birth weight and fetal growth showed intergenerational continuity. In earlier generations, the developmental origins of birth weight and hence later health and disease were already present.
