Intensive care admissions among ovarian cancer patients treated with primary debulking surgery and neoadjuvant chemotherapy-interval debulking surgery

Pepin K, et al. - In this study, Comparison was performed of the rates, indications and lengths of intensive care units (ICU) stays among ovarian cancer patients admitted to the ICU within 30 days of cytoreduction, either primary or interval. Among patients undergoing primary debulking surgery (PDS), the rate of ICU admissions was higher than for neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT). Indications for admission, length of stay and surgical complexity among patients admitted to the ICU were similar between patients treated with NACT and PDS.
