Insulin access to skeletal muscle is preserved in obesity induced by polyunsaturated diet
Obesity Dec 07, 2017
Broussard JL, et al. - The authors examined whether a diet high in polyunsaturated fat would preserve insulin sensitivity (SI) and insulin access to muscle, as compared with a diet high in saturated fat. Despite the similar weight gain, a diet high in polyunsaturated fat did not impair insulin access to muscle interstitium or induce insulin resistance as observed with a saturated fat diet. Future studies ought to determine whether dietary salmon oil (SO) supplementation improved impairments in insulin access to skeletal muscle.
