Sleep Medicine Apr 08, 2018
Cai GH, et al. - Experts explored the combined impact of sleep duration and insomnia on obesity and central obesity in patients aged 45-78 years using data from the Swedish EpiHealth cohort study. Findings revealed that both short and long sleep duration, along with the insomnia symptoms exhibited aa connection with obesity and central obesity. A significant joint effect of sleep duration and insomnia symptoms was brought to light. No correlation was reported between insomnia symptoms and obesity, as long as a normal sleeping time could be attained. This data pointed out that sleep duration was essential for the association between sleep and obesity instead of insomnia symptoms per se.
