Injuries among recreational football players: Results of a prospective cohort study
Clinical Journal of Sport Medicine May 21, 2018
Dönmez G, et al. - Authors sought to ascertain the incidence and patterns of football injuries and related consequences in daily life and labor loss, among public employees. Results demonstrated a relatively high risk of injury in recreational football players that led to significant labor loss. Consideration of specific injury characteristics by prevention programs was suggested, as this population demonstrated a greater incidence of muscle and anterior cruciate ligament injuries. Of all injuries, severe injuries constituted 42.6% and the participants had to be absent because of the 28.9% of all injuries at least 1 day for the next working day. For all injuries, the total labor loss was 1,196 days. Experts noted significantly less rate of missing subsequent working day for muscle injuries.
