Inhaled corticosteroids and asthma control in adult-onset asthma: 12-year follow-up study
Respiratory Medicine Mar 09, 2018
Vahatalo I, et al. - In a cohort of new-onset adult asthma and in different groups of asthma control, a longitudinal assessment of prescribed medication was carried out via calculating cumulative inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) doses and dose changes during 12 years of follow-up. It was noted that in patients with uncontrolled asthma, the level of asthma control remained poor despite frequent dose changes and high ICS doses, suggesting that high ICS doses may not be effective enough for management of disease in patients with uncontrolled adult-onset asthma.
