Inhaled budesonide for the prevention of acute mountain sickness: A meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials
The American Journal of Emergency Medicine Nov 03, 2019
Xiong Z, et al. - Researchers performed a meta-analysis to evaluate the prophylactic value of budesonide for acute mountain sickness (AMS). The eligibility criteria were met by five groups in six articles with 304 participants; these included two articles with the same participants but different measurements. Outcomes do not support the protective value of inhaled budesonide against AMS or severe AMS. However, it successfully led to reduction in heart rate and increase in pulse oxygen saturation without any side effects.
