Influences of pregravid liver enzyme levels on the development of gestational diabetes mellitus
Liver International Dec 16, 2020
Kim WJ, Chung Y, Park J, et al. - By using data from women (n = 236,109) who took part in the National Health Screening Examination, researchers examined the link between pre‐pregnancy liver enzyme levels and subsequent risk of gestational diabetes mellitus. The development of gestational diabetes mellitus with and without insulin therapy need was noted in about 5.7% and 1.1% of women, respectively. According to findings, there was a significant correlation of increased pregravid liver enzyme levels with the subsequent risk of gestational diabetes mellitus, particularly gestational diabetes mellitus needing insulin therapy. This was found not only in women with obesity or metabolic syndrome, but also in women without obesity or metabolic syndrome.
