Nemeth E, et al. – This study examined the impact of inflammatory response (IR) on the development of postoperative cognitive dysfunction (POCD) in elderly patients undergoing on–pump cardiac surgery. Development of POCD in the early postoperative period remained unaffected by the non–infective inflammatory response generated by on–pump cardiac surgery in elderly patients.
