Influence of strength training intensity on subsequent recovery in elderly
Experimental Gerontology Mar 19, 2018
da Rosa Orssatto LB, et al. - Researchers here sought to determine the influence of strength training intensity on subsequent recovery in elderly. They identified that in elderly individuals, reduced physical function immediately after strength training could last for 1–2 days depending on the type of physical function and intensity of training. In this study, higher intensity led to greater impairment. Most of the subjects recovered functional capacity 24 h after strength training. For the majority of subjects, explosive force remained impaired after 24 h. Some subjects still experienced impairments 72 h after the session.
