Influence of psoas muscle area on mortality following elective abdominal aortic aneurysm repair
British Journal of Surgery Feb 22, 2019
Waduud MA, et al. - Via this prospective cohort study, researchers sought to evaluate morphometric sarcopenia [based on the total psoas muscle area (TPMA) on CT] as a method of risk stratification in patients undergoing elective abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) intervention. Analyzing measurements of TPMA on preintervention CT images of patients undergoing elective endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) or open aneurysm repair, they realized TPMA as unsuitable for risk stratification among patients undergoing effective intervention for AAA.
