Influence of left ventricular ejection fraction on morbidity and mortality after aortic root replacement
The Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery Nov 22, 2018
Langer NB, et al. - Researchers retrospectively reviewed patients with a low left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) who underwent aortic root replacement at their institution between 2005 and 2013 (n=595) to better understand morbidity and mortality in this population. Observation revealed the negative influence of reduced LVEF on mortality as well as on in-hospital death and perioperative morbidity after aortic root replacement. This highlights the significance of careful patient selection and risk discussion in this high-risk population.
