Influence of Bayesian optimization on the performance of propofol target-controlled infusion

British Journal of Anesthesia Oct 08, 2017

van den Berg JP, et al. - This study entails a comparison between a population-based vs a personalized target controlled infusion (TCI) propofol titration using Bayesian adaptation, in terms of the bias and inaccuracy. Haemodynamic and hypnotic stability, and the prediction probability of alternative pharmacokinetic (PK) models were studied. Findings revealed that for propofol TCI when an accurate population-based PK model was used, Bayesian adaption of the model improved bias but not precision.
