Influence of anxiolytic premedication on vasovagal reactions and home readiness following outpatient intrathecal anaesthesia: A retrospective analysis
Acta Anaesthesiologica Scandinavica Mar 01, 2019
Gebhardt V, et al. - Researchers analyzed anaesthesia records of 2747 patients who underwent outpatient surgery under low-dose intrathecal anaesthesia (IA) from January 2008 to June 2017, to assess the impact of anxiolytic premedication on the incidence of vasovagal reactions and time until discharge home. Based on the receipt of anxiolytic premedication, patients were divided as those having received an anxiolytic premedication or those who had not. According to the findings, the incidence of vasovagal reactions was remarkably attenuated during the application of IA as a result of anxiolytic premedication. No impact was seen on time until readiness for discharge.
